A no-stove snack, ready in 5 minutes: avocado brings healthy fat and makes the mash creamy, and ripe mango adds the sweetness. Both are soft and easy to mash with a fork.

Makes 1 serving
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp ripe avocado (about 1 oz / 30 g)
- 2 tbsp very ripe mango, peeled, with no tough fibers (about 1½ oz / 40 g)
How to make
- 1Wash the avocado and the mango before cutting. Scoop the avocado flesh with a spoon and take the mango flesh close to the skin, where it has fewer fibers.
- 2On a small plate, mash both with a fork into a thick mash with soft little lumps.
- 3Serve right away, on a spoon, or let your baby pick it up by hand.
Tips
- Texture (6 months): fork-mashed, never in the blender. The soft little lumps teach your baby to chew.
- Ripe avocado: it gives when you press near the stem. If it's still hard, wait another day.
- No sugar: ripe mango already sweetens it. No sugar, honey or condensed milk.
- Storage: make it fresh. Avocado turns brown once mashed.
Why it's good for baby
- Avocado: has healthy (monounsaturated) fat for energy and is one of the fruits richest in fiber, which helps prevent constipation.
- Mango: has vitamin C, which helps the body absorb the iron in beans and greens eaten at the same meal. Careful: vitamin C is lost with heat, so serve mango raw and mashed.
