Cooked mashed plantain
A warm, naturally sweet snack with just one fruit: a ripe plantain, cooked and mashed with a fork. Cooked plantain gets very soft and is great for the first days of starting solids.

Ingredients
- 1 very ripe plantain (yellow peel with black spots)
- Water for cooking
How to make
- 1Wash the plantain, trim the ends and cut it into 3 pieces, peel on.
- 2Boil for about 15 minutes, until the flesh is very soft when you poke it with a fork.
- 3Peel and mash the flesh with a fork, leaving soft little lumps. Let it cool until warm.
Tips
- Texture (6 months): fork-mashed, never in the blender. If it's too thick, add a little of the cooking water.
- Ripe plantain: a bright yellow peel with black spots means sweet fruit. Green ones stay hard.
- No sugar: no sugar, honey, cinnamon sugar or condensed milk.
- To vary: mash in a piece of papaya or cooked apple.
- Storage: fridge for up to 2 days, or freezer for up to 1 month, in portions.
