Baked fish and potato patties

Soft fish and potato patties, baked in the oven, shaped like little fingers so your baby can hold them and eat on their own. A tasty way to offer fish, and the batch is big enough to freeze.

Makes 10 patties Freezer-friendly Contains: fish, egg

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh tilapia or hake fillet (about 5 oz / 150 g)
  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp quick oats
  • ¼ onion, grated, and chopped parsley and green onions
  • olive oil for greasing

How to make

  1. 1Cook the potato in cubes in unsalted water for about 15 minutes. Drain and mash.
  2. 2Cook the fish in a little water, covered, for about 8 minutes. Check for bones and flake it.
  3. 3Mix the potato, fish, egg, oats, onion and herbs.
  4. 4With damp hands, shape long patties about the size of an adult's finger.
  5. 5Bake on a greased baking sheet at 400 °F for about 20 minutes, turning halfway.

Tips

  • Texture (9 to 11 months): soft inside, easy to break down with the gums. Finger shape for your baby's hand.
  • Egg fully cooked: the patty should come out firm, with no raw part in the middle.
  • Bones: check the flaked fish with your fingers before mixing.
  • Storage: 2 days in the fridge or 1 month in the freezer. Reheat in the oven.
