Mashed papaya with pear
A no-cook morning snack, ready in 5 minutes: papaya and a very ripe pear mashed together with a fork. Papaya helps keep things moving, and the pear adds a new, gentle flavor.

Makes 1 serving
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp ripe papaya, seeds removed (about 1½ oz / 40 g)
- ½ very ripe pear, peeled and cored
How to make
- 1Wash your hands and the fruit skins.
- 2Scoop the seeds out of the papaya with a spoon and scrape out the flesh. Peel the pear and remove the core.
- 3On a small plate, mash the papaya and pear with a fork into a thick mash with soft little lumps.
- 4Serve right away, with a small spoon.
Tips
- Texture (6 months): fork-mashed, never in the blender. The pear must be soft; if it's still firm, grate it on the fine side of a box grater.
- Ripe pear: it gives when you press near the stem. A hard pear won't mash.
- Constipated? Papaya helps. Also offer water between meals.
- No sugar: ripe fruit is already sweet. No sugar, honey or condensed milk.
- Storage: make it fresh, because pear turns brown. Keep the rest of the papaya covered in the fridge for up to 2 days.
