An afternoon snack with no stove, ready in 5 minutes: ripe mango and banana mashed together with a fork. Both fruits are sweet and soft, great for the first days of starting solids.

Makes 1 serving
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp very ripe mango, peeled, with no tough fibers (about 1½ oz / 40 g)
- ½ ripe banana
How to make
- 1Wash the mango before peeling. Take the flesh close to the skin, away from the pit, where it has fewer fibers.
- 2On a small plate, mash the mango and banana with a fork into a thick mash with soft little lumps.
- 3Serve right away, on a spoon, or let your baby pick it up by hand.
Tips
- Texture (6 months): fork-mashed, never in the blender. The soft little lumps teach your baby to chew.
- Ripe mango: it gives when you press it and smells sweet. A green mango is hard and sour.
- Fibers: choose Ataulfo (honey) or Tommy Atkins mangoes, which have few fibers. If you see a long fiber, remove it with the tip of a knife.
- No sugar: ripe fruit is already sweet. Don't add sugar, honey or condensed milk.
- Storage: make it fresh. Banana turns brown quickly once mashed.
