Mashed hard-boiled egg with avocado
A hearty morning snack that keeps your baby going until lunch: a fully cooked egg mashed with avocado. The egg brings protein and iron, and the avocado makes it creamy, with the healthy fat the brain uses to grow.

Makes 1 serving Contains: egg
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp ripe avocado (about 1½ oz / 40 g)
- 1 pinch finely chopped parsley and green onions (optional)
How to make
- 1Place the egg in a small saucepan, cover with water and bring to a boil. Once it boils, cook for 10 minutes.
- 2Move the egg to a bowl of cold water and let it cool. Peel it.
- 3On a small plate, mash the whole egg (white and yolk) with a fork. Add the avocado and herbs and mash again, leaving little lumps.
- 4Serve warm or at room temperature, with a small spoon.
Tips
- Texture (7 and 8 months): coarsely mashed, with soft little bits of white and yolk. The lumps teach your baby to chew.
- Fully cooked egg: the yolk must be firm, with no runny parts. Undercooked egg is not for babies.
- Egg is an allergen: offer it in the morning so you can watch your baby during the day. No need to wait until age 1.
- No salt: the avocado and herbs already add flavor.
- Storage: make it fresh, because avocado turns brown. A hard-boiled egg in its shell keeps for 2 days in the fridge.
