Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe pear
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon (optional, no sugar)
  • 1 cup water

How to make

  1. 1Wash and peel the pear. Cut it into 8 long wedges and remove the seeds and the hard core.
  2. 2In a small saucepan, cook the wedges in the water, covered, over low heat for about 10 minutes.
  3. 3Drain, sprinkle with cinnamon and let them cool until warm before serving.

Tips

  • Texture (9–11 months): a wedge should squash easily between your thumb and index finger. If it resists, cook it longer.
  • Right size: a long wedge, about the size of an adult finger, so your baby can hold it and bite the tip. Never give hard raw pear at this stage.
  • Always together: your baby eats sitting up, with an adult beside them and no distractions.
  • Cinnamon: only pure ground cinnamon. No sugar, honey or cinnamon sugar.
  • Storage: fridge for up to 2 days, in a closed container.
