Avocado toast fingers
The fastest finger-food breakfast there is: lightly toasted bread with a thin layer of mashed avocado, cut into finger-length strips. Avocado brings healthy fats, and light toast is firm enough for your baby to hold on their own.

Makes 1 serving Contains: wheat
Ingredients
- 1 slice whole wheat sandwich bread, ideally with no added sugar
- ¼ ripe avocado
- a few drops of lemon juice (optional)
How to make
- 1Toast the bread lightly, in a toaster or a dry skillet, just until firm, without letting it get hard or dark.
- 2Mash the avocado with a fork until creamy. The lemon drops keep it from browning.
- 3Spread a thin layer of avocado on the toast and cut it into finger-length strips.
Tips
- Texture (9 to 11 months): light toast stays firm in the hand and softens in the mouth. Fresh, soft bread can turn into a sticky ball on the roof of the mouth, which is why we toast it.
- Thin layer: too much avocado slips out of your baby's hand.
- Bread already has salt: that's why the portion is small, and no salt goes in the avocado.
- To round it out: serve with chopped fruit or a well-cooked scrambled egg.
- Storage: make it fresh. Mashed avocado browns and the toast goes soft.
